Man Utd Train Station
|
I am going to Old Trafford next week for the first time in about 10 years (DiCanio) Is the train station from Man Piccadilly to Old Trafford still operation?. The tram looks a bit dodgy for me to get my return train.

Check on the National Rail website for train times/connections.
Google UK Train times, or similar. Stick in your dates, start & finish times and it will show if your connection/journey works.

He posted here so he wouldn't have to google, so that's not very helpful

No there's no station at Old Trafford anymore, but there is a tram from Piccadilly

tram is actually very good, used it for the league game, its the shortest walk where we leave the stadium and was quite efficient then.

Not if the trains are running it's not
In the league game there were no trains due to engineering works.

I meant from leaving the stadium the tram is nearest to the away supporters, so you are not at the back of 75,000 others walking that way.

No idea
Someone seems to think it's closed but I can't find that being the case anywhere.
They normally only have the times up a few days before the game.
Easy - The train station is 20 yards across the forecourt outside the away end....

I was told that it's never used in match days anymore because the crowds are too big. But that's just third hand information

So does anyone actually know if the station is open or not?
Need to book a train back to STOKE after the game but not sure what time to go for.

I was going to fly, but it looks like the last flight back is 18.55 which I reckon I'd have about a 0% chance of making..

The people who really want to know, you could try phoning Network Rail information line and just asking them... instead of a West Ham online forum

If you mean the trains from London to Manchester, you can drink on them, they even sell alcohol on the train.
If you mean the train/tram from Manchester Piccadilly to Old Trafford, I have no idea but its such a short journey it doesn't really matter whether you can or can't.

There are times when Virgin make trains "dry" not allowing any drink on board or on sale.
Hasn't happened to West Ham for a long time now thankfully but then we've not had such a number travelling since the last time I can remember a dry train.
Happens all the time with Northern teams travelling south.
